A dormitory fire in central China killed more than a dozen people

Chinese authorities said that a fire that occurred at Yingcai school in Yanshanpu village, Henan province, central region of the country on the night of January 19 killed 13 people.

On the morning of January 20, Chinese authorities confirmed that 13 people died in a fire that occurred at a school dormitory in Nanyang city, Henan province, central region of the country.

At around 11 p.m. on January 19, the local fire department received a fire alarm call at the dormitory of Yingcai school in Yanshanpu village, Fangcheng district.

Rescue workers were quickly dispatched to the scene. The fire was extinguished about 40 minutes later. In addition to the dead victims, there was also an injured person who was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire.
