The professional association Justice for the Civil Guard (Jucil) has demanded the resignation of the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaskafor being “incapable of solving the serious problems that drug trafficking causes in the south of Spain”, after the death of two agents and two others injured when they were hit by a drug boat in Barbate (Cádiz).

In a statement, the association recalled that on February 1 it requested “more means and a greater number of troops to control the passage of drugs through the mouth of the Guadalquivir.” “Today we mourn the death of two colleagues run over in the port of Barbate by a drug boat when they were trying, with their insufficient means, to arrest the occupants of this boat,” he said.

Following these events, Jucil has requested the “immediate resignation” from the Minister of the Interior, to whom for years the association “has demanded the declaration of a Special Singularity Zone for this part of Spain where drug and human trafficking mafias act with increasing impunity.”

«A few days ago Jucil demanded better means. Today, unfortunately, we have two dead colleagues and one more seriously injured crushed by a drug boat driven by murderers,” said the general secretary of Jucil, Ernesto Vilariño.

«The published videos make what happened even more terrible, with people cheering the murderers and laughing at the civil guards who, with their poor means, have died when they tried to do their duty: prevent drug trafficking,” he added.

At this point, he said that today the association contains indignation “because the first thing is to care for the wounded and accompany those who have lost their lives.” «But we shout loud and clear that the cruel murder of two civil guards requires an immediate and forceful response from the Ministry of the Interior and, of course, the resignation of its current head, Fernando Grande Marlaskawho has shown himself incapable of solving the serious problems that drug trafficking causes in the south of Spain,” said Vilariño.

«For more than two years we have persistently demanded the need to reinforce the troops and launch the Special Singularity Zone to fight against criminal drug traffickers who today have taken another step in their escalation towards crime that is increasingly dangerous for citizens,” concluded the general secretary of JUCIL.

From the National Police union, Jupol, they have also criticized the Campo de Gibraltar Special Plan that Marlaska presented, insisting that it is a “real failure” because drug traffickers continue to roam “at ease”, which is why they have demanded the resignation of the head of the Interior.
