Jorge Enrique Robledo talks about his political life and analyzes the Petro government

The former senator and leader of the Dignity and Compromiso party, Jorge Enrique Robledo, is a man with more than 50 years of political life. In an interview with Kienyke.com he summarized a part of those years, from his beginnings in the student movement, crossing the Moir, his time in the Senate and of course the story of how he distanced himself politically from the now president of the Republic, Gustavo Petro.

Ibagueño by birth and Manizaleeño by upbringing, born into a middle-class family, with the guidance of his parents who ironically stressed to him for an important part of his life that “decent people do not get involved in politics.” Today, a long time after having started in this world, after taking the title of best senator for so many years and having taken the plunge in the last elections for the Mayor of Bogotá, he believes something very different.

His change of opinion about politics arose precisely here in Bogotá, where he came to study architecture and ended up meeting politically with the student movement of 1971. That, having the possibility of following a comfortable life, aligned with that partying and fun youth that he remembers with nostalgia.

“I realized that the country was a disaster. Poverty, hunger, lack of opportunities for people, industrial and agricultural underdevelopment, corruption, national sovereignty completely lost, organizations that thought that with violence and kidnapping they would be able to fix things, liberals and conservatives They did whatever they wanted and I became politicized,” Robledo told Kienyke.com.
