Jake Fraser McGurk screams in pain after being hit in the box by Trent Boult IPL

Relationship with the public: DC vs RR, IPL 2024: Delhi Capitals star opener Jake Fraser-McGurk endured a painful start to his innings in the IPL 2024 match against Rajasthan Royals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday. He got a huge blow on his box in the very first over.

Sanju Samson won the toss and chose to bowl first. It was Abhishek Porel and Jake Fraser McGurk who opened the innings for DC. Jake played the first ball of the innings while Trent Boult opened the bowling attack for RR.

Jake took two runs on Boult’s first ball and it was the third ball that hit the pads as Boult tried to trouble him with his line and length. And on the fourth ball, Boult hit Jake on the box and left him writhing in pain.

DC’s physios rushed to Jake, who was lying on the ground and in extreme pain after his injury. But fortunately he got back on his feet and started batting again. He hit a four on the very next ball of Trent Boult.

Till the time of writing the news, DC’s score was 142/3 after 12 overs. Abhishek Porel is the second DC batsman who scored a half-century apart from Jake. He took Boult to the cleaners and hit fast bowler Dore for two fours and a six.

Delhi Capitals eyes important win

The Rishabh Pant-led team needs a win at all costs to keep their playoff hopes alive. After winning five matches and losing six, they are currently placed sixth in the points table and cannot lose any match now. As the race for the playoffs heats up, DC will aim to win all three of their matches and boost their chances of qualifying for the playoffs.
