Regnum has published an analysis on the background of the information about the telephone conversation between the presidents of Russia and Turkey, where the main question, perhaps, is who will replace Erdogan in four years. Moreover, the question is asked with an intriguing hint that “health will not allow him to continue in office”. Erdogan just celebrated his 70th birthday, Putin two years ago, but he is going to be elected president for another term. “Concern” about Erdogan’s health takes on a completely different meaning in this comparison.
It seems that it is being publicized that the president of Turkey has health problems, but he does not reveal the successor. According to the impression of the Russian media, Hakan Fidan was called from the intelligence service to the diplomatic service “as a possible successor” – although earlier there was an opinion that Erdogan was looking for a replacement “in the family circle”. The author ranks Turkey among the countries with “high international reputation”, so to speak, “it is not a superpower, but it has something to say”.
Judging by the fact that even Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia congratulated Erdoğan on his jubilee, and he praised the Turkish president for “making a significant contribution to intercultural cooperation”, Moscow has serious expectations from Turkey. The Russian press circulated a rumor that if the West had met Vladimir Putin on time and redistribution of spheres of influence had taken place according to the “Yalta-2” principle, war would not have started in Ukraine, and other world conflicts would have been settled.
In this context, the Department of Intelligence of the Office of the President of Ukraine issued an extremely alarming statement, in which it is openly stated that in the coming April-May, Russia “will try to provoke contradictions in Kyiv, as well as to escalate the situation in different parts of the world.” The Russian “Nezavisimaya Gazeta” referred to the statement of the opposition deputy of the National Assembly, Aregnaz Manukyan, that if Zelensky visits Yerevan, the relations with Russia “will reach the point of irreversibility, which Azerbaijan will take advantage of and start a war against Armenia.”
On the same day, the delegation led by the Deputy Minister of Defense of Turkey was in Baku. The operational situation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani conventional border was discussed at the meeting with the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan. The Deputy Minister of Defense of Turkey also had a separate meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan and Advisor to the Minister of Defense Bakhtiyar Ehsan. It is obvious that the latter was sent to Baku from Turkey.
Against this background, the Russian Embassy in Armenia advised its citizens not to visit the border regions of Syunik, Gegharkunik and Vayots Dzor. At the same time, it seems that this is the first time that the Russian Embassy in Armenia issues such a warning. On the eve of the Armenian-Azerbaijani negotiations at the level of foreign ministers starting in Berlin, a rather complex informational mosaic is obtained. Does Moscow see an opportunity for an agreement with Ankara, or by sending a delegation of the military department to Baku before Putin’s visit to Turkey, Erdogan makes it clear that there will not be a “South Caucasian Yalta-2” either?
