Industry welcomes the start of two additional clusters of excellence
Vienna (OTS) – The excellence initiative of the Austrian universities is essential for the further development of Austria’s research and technology location and a milestone on the way to becoming a European innovation leader. The aim of the initiative is to raise the profile of basic research and increase the international visibility of Austrian research. With the selection of two additional clusters of excellence, the expansion of the Austrian Excellence Initiative will be consistently continued.
“The current geopolitical challenges and the green and digital transformation present our leading companies with major challenges. We are facing global technology competition in the key technologies of the future. Therefore, the outstanding results in the future fields of top Austrian research are central to our competitiveness of tomorrow. That’s why we as Austria’s industry welcome cross-institutional and long-term collaboration in basic research in key international technologies such as artificial intelligence or aging research. We warmly congratulate the participating research institutions of the selected clusters!” emphasizes Christoph Neumayer, Secretary General of the Association of Industrialists, the importance of the Excellence Initiative for Austrian industry.
“The Excellence Initiative can be used for systemic change in top Austrian research. This particularly includes close cooperation between the clusters of excellence and business. Austria is an important production location in the middle of Europe. It is therefore important that the transfer of knowledge and technology with society and business through training, cooperation and communication is practiced in the clusters of excellence right from the start,” says Christoph Neumayer, Secretary General of the Association of Industrialists.
