Index – Domestic – A serious accident occurred in the Flórián Richter Circus

On Saturday afternoon (May 4), a serious accident took place in the Richter Flórián Circus, which started at 3 o’clock, as a result of which one of their spectators was seriously injured. As a result, the evening performance was cancelled, but according to their information, Sunday will continue according to schedule, starting at 11 am.

The circus cooperates with the authorities in everything, and an internal investigation has been launched to clarify what happened and to prevent similar cases. At their request, we publish their statement about the case without changes:

“During our performance at 3 o’clock this afternoon, during the swinging trapeze production, one of our spectators was seriously injured as a result of an unfortunate accident. Of course, we immediately called an ambulance, and he is receiving professional medical care.

Due to the accident, we will not hold today’s 6 p.m. performance, tickets purchased for this time will be valid for tomorrow’s 11 a.m. or 3 p.m. performance! We were completely overwhelmed by what happened, the management and the entire troupe of the Richter Flórián Circus express their sincere regret and concern and wish the spectator who suffered the accident a speedy recovery! The management of our circus fully cooperates with the competent authorities in finding out the causes of the accident and has implemented immediate internal measures to prevent similar incidents. From tomorrow, our circus will continue its work at the regular times, at the usual standard.”

This was not the first accident in the company’s life this year, just a few weeks ago, an artist on a motorcycle flew out of the ball of death at the premiere in Győr – a year after an eerily similar incident happened at the performance of the Hungarian National Circus in Szolnok.
