The Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists (BÖP) promises unrestricted support

Vienna (OTS) – The ongoing impact of the pandemic has brought a variety of challenges, with mental health, particularly of children and young people, being severely affected. The Professional Association of Austrian Psychologists (BÖP) therefore feels compelled to emphasize prioritizing mental health and supports a national action plan.

The alarming figures on the mental health of children and young people have prompted Health and Social Affairs Minister Johannes Rauch to make an urgent appeal for the development of a national action plan to be included in the next government program. The BÖP welcomes this initiative and emphasizes the crucial importance of giving mental health a high priority.

Clinical-psychological treatment as an integral component

Clinical psychologists play a crucial role in improving the mental health of children and young people. With their specialist knowledge, experience and skills, they can diagnose and treat mental disorders and develop preventive measures. They are therefore indispensable experts in addressing this challenge and must be an integral part of this action plan.

Through the BÖP successful projects “funded by the Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection”Healthy from the crisis” and “#change“ Important steps have already been taken in the right direction – it is therefore essential to support initiatives like these in the long term. Clinical-psychological treatment is an indispensable part of health care.
