A conference of foreign ministers of Islamic Cooperation countries is taking place in the capital of Gambia. Miiliyet conveys the main theses of Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s speech, which can be tentatively formulated as follows: The war in the Gaza Strip is not between the state of Israel and the Palestinian Arabs, but between the oppressors and the oppressed, therefore the fight against the occupation belongs to all Islamic peoples, the history of the Islamic world knows bitter examples of divisive competition that should not be repeated, Islamic states cannot sacrifice the holy cause of Palestine for regional competition for dominance.

The most influential Islamic countries in the Middle East are Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Iran. Iran has traditionally been seen as Israel’s “blood enemy” and has acted as the leader of the struggle for the liberation of Jerusalem in the Islamic world. Since the beginning of the war in the Gaza Strip, when the OIC organized a summit of the leaders of the states, the Iranian president harshly criticized the Islamic countries supplying fuel to Israel, referring primarily to Turkey.

Turkey retaliates, but, apparently, the recipient of Fidan’s “rebuke” is Saudi Arabia, where the US Secretary of State Blinken a few days ago, as stated by the American Politico, “conducted very difficult negotiations”. According to reports, the Saudis did not reject the proposal to normalize relations with Israel, but “they did not say a decisive yes.” Almost at the same time, an anonymous official of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran informed the press that “the US-Iranian settlement negotiations are not underway, the contacts through the mediation of third countries, as before, are being coordinated by Deputy Foreign Minister Bagheri.”

The Turkish Foreign Minister is certainly much more informed about Saudi-American and Iranian-American open or closed discussions. Especially since he had a “difficult meeting” with US Secretary of State Blinken a few days ago. And, perhaps, it was with that impression that he said that “the division of the Islamic world is beneficial to Israel and its patrons”. In this context, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan issued a brief message, according to which Baku supports the declaration of the State of Palestine in accordance with the UN Security Council Resolution 1947. resolution.

As it is known, it divides the former British sub-mandate of Palestine into two states, Israel and Palestine, with East Jerusalem as its capital. At the level of public policy, thus, Baku supports the general position of the Islamic world on the issue of Palestine, but this approach is formally supported by the United States as well as the European Union. Iran, and after the outbreak of the war in Gaza, Turkey also demand that Israel return to 1967. borders, and this implies the cancellation of more than forty years of resettlement, the displacement of millions of people, the return of territories, including the Golan Heights.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey actually revealed that the idea of ”liberating al-Quds” is just propaganda. The real issue is who will be the “security guarantor” of the future Palestinian state. And on this issue, the Islamic world is divided, which has turned into a sharp competition for influence. Hakan Fidan appears to be heralding a non-Islamic crisis. Turkey is preparing to invade northern Iraq. Obviously, this is aimed at breaking the “Shiadavan arc” sponsored by Iran in the Middle East. On the other hand, Azerbaijan is deepening political, trade-economic and mutual investment relations with the Arab monarchies of the Persian Gulf.
