The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Finland, Elina Valtonen, accused Russia of disrupting the work of the GPS satellite positioning system in the region.

As reported by the Finnish public broadcaster Yle, the foreign minister noted that Finland has noticed for a long time that GPS signal disturbances have become more frequent as a result of Russian actions.

According to him, at the beginning of the year, reports of satellite navigation disturbances received by the Transport and Communications Agency have increased significantly.

Without specifying the period, Valtonen claimed that during the Russian-Ukrainian military operations, the scope of jamming of GPS signals was expanded, and in a number of respects received a new form.

According to Valtonen, disruptions in the navigation system may affect passenger flights, but citizens have no reason to worry.

The minister assures that the situation is under the control of the authorities, they will monitor and respond accordingly.

According to him, air travel in Finland is safe, and GPS interference has not led to air incidents.
