German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius stated that the release of recordings of German officers’ conversations about supplying Ukraine with missiles to attack the Crimean bridge was not an attack on telecommunication systems, but a mistake by one of the participants. This is reported by Die Zeit publication.
“The conversation was successfully recorded because there was an individual case of misuse of the equipment. Not all chat participants are connected with a secure connection. The data leak happened because one of the participants in Singapore was connected through a non-closed channel,” Die Zeit reports, citing the minister’s explanation.
He assured that there was no attack on German communication systems.
“The Russian spy did not join the conversation that was taking place through the Webex application,” Pistorius said.
The minister added that IT-specialists will check the devices used in the negotiations, along with that, the supervisory bodies will conduct a preliminary disciplinary examination of the participants of the negotiations.
Earlier, the Russian Foreign Ministry demanded explanations from Berlin regarding the publication of negotiations between German officials regarding the supply of long-range missiles to Kiev for attacks on the Crimean bridge. The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated that “attempts to avoid answering questions will be considered as an admission of guilt.”
Earlier, the authenticity of the recording was confirmed in Germany. And German Chancellor Olaf Scholz once again reiterated that the country will not supply Taurus missiles to Kiev.
