Madagascar is preparing to make a splash once again in the world of information and communication technologies (ICT) with the participation of three teams in the Sub-Saharan Africa regional final of the ICT Competition. This international competition, developed by Huawei, aims to promote the development of ICT talents among university and college students, creating synergy between industry and education. For this 8e edition, Madagascar fields three teams, each representing a track of the competition: Network, Cloud and Computing.

Winners. The official announcement of the Malagasy teams took place during a national awards ceremony at the Novotel Ivandry. Among the 30 finalists awarded, female students were also honored, thus highlighting the growing inclusion of women in the field of ICT in Madagascar. Each of the winning teams who will represent Madagascar at the regional final received a reward of 10,000 RMB, or nearly 6.5 million ariary. Additionally, the top ten students for each category also received an exam voucher for the HCIA certificate. Scalable. For his part, the Malagasy Minister of Digital Development, Digital Transformation, Posts and Telecommunications, Tahina Razafindramalo, stressed the importance of developing skills in the fields of IT to keep pace with global technological advances. “Our universities must also improve training to keep up with today’s new technologies. Madagascar launched commercial 5G last year, while at last year’s congress in Barcelona, other countries were already experimenting with 6G. This is to say that we have to see far, when we operate in this sector “, he indicated.

Unique route. Quesiah Botoale, talent manager and senior ambassador of Huawei for Sub-Saharan Africa, highlighted the importance of competition for Malagasy youth. Beyond the competition itself, participants benefit from access to professional and expert level courses and practical work, providing invaluable experience in the world of ICT. In short, the ICT Competition represents the flagship event of the year for digital enthusiasts in Madagascar. With each edition, the interest and commitment of Malagasy students to ICT continues to grow. This year, the regional final will take place on February 29, 2024, while the international final will be held in China in May. Madagascar’s digital future looks promising, driven by dynamic and competent youth in the field of information and communication technologies.
