The sale of HSBC’s Canadian unit, under the name HSBC Bank Canada, to Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) was completed yesterday. The price of the transaction amounted to 9.96 billion dollars. According to a statement from HSBC, the transaction will result in the recognition of an estimated gain of $4.9 billion in the first quarter of 2024.
