JAKARTA – The Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration (Kemendes PDTT) held a pre-coordination meeting (pra-rakor), starting the Transmigration Coordination Meeting which was held in Makassar 5-8 May 2O24.

In the pre-coordination meeting, Secretary Directorate General Sigit Mustofa conveyed directions to the heads of departments in charge of transmigration. The Secretary-Directorate General, who was accompanied by Pratama Principals within the Directorate General of PPKTrans, conveyed several important points, including completing the 2O2O-2O24 RPJMN targets, accelerating land settlements, and administering State Property (BMN).

Furthermore, the coordination meeting is planned to be opened and attended directly by the PDTT Village Minister on Monday (6/5/2024). This time’s coordination meeting took the theme “Completing the Targets of the 2O2O-2O24 RPJMN Program: Realizing an Independent and Competitive Transmigration Area”.

“The objectives of this coordination meeting include consolidating cross-agency performance in completing the 2O2O-2O24 RPJMN targets, synchronizing regional revitalization plans with regional development needs and policy directions, and exploring opportunities for developing modern transmigration related to alternative housing financing and fisheries economic development through panel discussions,” ” he said in a press statement, Sunday (5/5/2024).

This coordination meeting also invites resource persons from across ministries/institutions including the Deputy for Regional Development of Bappenas, the Director General of Agrarian Management of the Ministry of ATR/BPN, the Director General of Housing of the Ministry of PUPR and the Director General of Aquaculture of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and will be moderated by the Assistant Deputy for Village Development, Disadvantaged Regions and Cabinet Secretariat Transmigration.

Furthermore, Secretary Directorate General Sigit conveyed Presidential Decree 19/2O24 concerning Transmigration, which is a new transmigration regulation which is an important capital for efforts to develop and develop modern transmigration in the future.

Sigit also reminded all work units that received funds for assistance and deconcentration tasks for transmigration activities in 2024 to immediately accelerate the process of procuring goods and services and compiling RPDs in order to accelerate budget realization.

Just as a flashback, transmigration was first held in 1905. After Indonesia’s independence, transmigration was held again for the first time in 1950. Since then until today, the transmigration program has been running for 74 years.

Several important records made by the transmigration program during its journey include moving, organizing and placing a population of approximately 2.2 million heads of families or around 9.2 million people.

Arranging the distribution of such a large population then initiated development in areas that were previously isolated both in terms of access and resources. The regional development that occurred due to the transmigration program then succeeded in encouraging the formation of new administrative regions, namely 1,567 definitive villages, 466 sub-district capitals and 116 capital cities.
