Breaking all the previous records, a new record has been created in the price of gold in the country’s market. The price of the best quality or 22 carat gold (11.664 grams) has been increased by Tk 2,217. The price of one load of good quality gold is 1 lakh 12 thousand 908 taka.
This price has been reduced in view of the reduction in the price of acid gold (ripe gold) in the local market. Bangladesh Jewelers Association (BAJUS) said that this price will be effective from tomorrow Thursday.
Earlier, on January 18, the price of one bar of good quality gold was fixed at Tk 1 lakh 12 thousand 441. So far this was the highest price of gold in the market of the country. On January 19, the day after the record price was set, the price of gold was reduced slightly. After about a month and a half, now the record price has been increased again.
Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring Committee met on Wednesday (March 6) and decided to increase the price. This information was informed in a circular signed by the chairman of the committee, Masudur Rahman.
According to the notification, the price of acidic gold has increased in the local market. Therefore, considering the overall situation, Bangladesh Jewelery Association has fixed the new price of gold, which will be effective from March 7.
According to the new price, the price of the best quality or 22 carat gold has been increased by Tk 2,217 to Tk 1,12,908. The price of 21 carat gold has been increased by Tk 2 thousand 99 to Tk 1 lakh 7 thousand 775.
Besides, the price of one 18-carat gold bar has been increased by Tk 1,808 to Tk 92,379. The traditional gold price has been increased by 1 thousand 516 taka to 76 thousand 982 taka.
However, buyers have to pay more to buy gold jewelry. Because gold jewelry is sold by adding 5 percent VAT on the price fixed by Bajus. At the same time, the minimum wage per worker is 3 thousand 499 taka. As a result, buyers will have to pay 1 lakh 22 thousand 52 taka to buy a piece of 22 carat gold jewelry from tomorrow.
Earlier, on January 19, the price of the best quality or 22 carat gold was reduced by Tk 1,750 to Tk 1,10,691. The price of a 21 carat gold bar has been reduced from Tk 1,633 to Tk 1,5,676.
Besides, the price of one 18-carat gold bar has been reduced from Tk 1,458 to Tk 90,571. The price of one load of traditional gold was reduced by 1 thousand 166 taka to 75 thousand 466 taka. Gold is being sold at this price till Wednesday.
Now the price of gold is increased but the price of silver remains unchanged. The price of 22 carat silver is 2 thousand 100 taka, 21 carat is 2 thousand 6 taka, 18 carat is 1 thousand 715 taka and traditional method is 1 thousand 283 taka.
