The Government of Cesar installed a crisis room to mitigate the consequences that the El Niño phenomenon may cause, because according to Ideam, there is a very high risk of damage in the municipalities of Aguachica, Agustín Codazzi, Astrea, Becerril , Chimichagua, Chiriguaná, El Copey, La Jagua de Ibirico, La Paz, Pailitas, Pelaya, Pueblo Bello, San Diego, Tamalameque and Valledupar.

Also at high risk are the municipalities of Bosconia, Curumani, El Paso, Gamarra, Gonzalez, La Gloria, Manaure, Rio de Oro, San Alberto and San Martin.

The agencies in charge of being on the lookout for any type of eventuality are the Risk Management Office in conjunction with the Environment Secretariat, both departmental in Cesar.

In this regard, the governor of Cesar, Elvia Milena Sanjuán Dávila, indicated that “We want all municipalities to assume this phenomenon with responsibility and commitment, to be prepared and prevent risks in the department.”

For her part, the head of the Cesar Risk Management Office, Petra Romero, pointed out that “we ask the 25 mayors to sign the administrative agreements with the relief agencies, to timely carry out prevention actions, attend to forest fires. and other emergency situations that arise in their municipalities.”

In parallel, the departmental administration will maintain communication with mayors and leaders of each municipality, to know the risk diagnosis in each territory, in order to project new actions to mitigate the adverse effects of the season.

“We equip, train and train relief organizations such as Civil Defense, Firefighters and the Engineer Battalion, for the prevention and response to forest fires, and we also manage the response to the drought emergency that occurred in Camperucho, a rural area of ​​Valledupar, management that was carried out with the support of the National Army; just as we managed the response to the drought emergency that occurred in the municipality of Bosconia, with the support of private companies,” added Petra Romero.
