After it was just speculation and speculation, the increase in the prices of sacrifices during the next Eid Al-Adha has become a settled matter, after professionals and livestock breeders of various types have agreed on this, at a time when Moroccans are about 50 days away from Eid Al-Adha.

Expected increases in the prices of sacrifices often raise concerns among family heads who are eager to perform this religious ritual at the lowest costs, while the Ministry in charge of the sector has opened the door for importers to import significant quantities of sheep from abroad that can enrich the national supply of Eid livestock.

The professionals who Hespress spoke to in the livestock breeding gallery at the International Agricultural Exhibition in Meknes confirmed that “the increase in prices is inevitable due to the rise in feed costs and the increasing severity of drought and climate fluctuations,” noting that “the increase is expected to reach one thousand dirhams.” They explained that “the abundance of the product does not mean that there is no increase, because the mathematical process among farmers has become complicated.”

In this regard, Nabil Al-Ruwaisi, a livestock breeder from the city of Abu Al-Jaad and an exhibitor of the yellow breed, said: “With regard to Eid Al-Adha, there is an abundance of sheep, goats and various types of products, but it is expected that the demand for them will be high as usual. Moroccans do not miss this religious ritual, no matter the situation.”

Al-Ruwaisi highlighted that “the expected increase in the price of sacrifices is mainly due to the repercussions of drought and climate fluctuations on the agricultural sector as a whole, especially livestock breeding,” noting that “the increase is expected to reach one thousand dirhams in all types.”

He continued, saying: “The support provided is insufficient in light of the magnitude of the drought. The bags of fodder provided to us do not match what we must provide every day for the livestock that we raise. Therefore, the calculation process in this regard remains complex, which does not make the farmer sell his livestock at prices lower than the cost of feed,” adding that “the prices of various agricultural equipment have risen at a record high, which has made it difficult for the farmer to increase their investments.”

The same statement was confirmed by Mubarak Abdi, a livestock breeder in the Al-Rawashid community in Abu Al-Jaad, who reported that “the herders are now facing the repercussions of drought and climate fluctuations for the sixth year in a row, which has greatly affected the sufficient water reserve for raising livestock and for the growth of pasture on farms and pastures.”

Abdi explained that “the high cost of fodder will greatly affect the price of sacrifices this year, as the rate of increase is expected to reach about one thousand dirhams,” highlighting that “the lack of water and the high level of drought have had a negative impact on the livestock sector.”

Despite these increases, the professional himself confirms that “all groups will purchase their sacrificial animals as is usual, as social groups can deal with the issue according to their income, as prices vary according to types and sizes.”

To avoid any generalization, Hespress contacted other professionals who were in the livestock breeding gallery at the agricultural exhibition, where Saeed Al-Sisi, a breeder of the Sardi variety in the Rehamna rocks, said that “the offer will be available for sheep heads during Eid Al-Adha.”

He added, “The butchers are working to provide enough sheep heads to cover the supply, but that does not obscure the increase, which could range between 800 and 1,000 dirhams,” noting that “despite all this, the simple groups will be able to purchase their sacrifice according to their income, as they can Buying a sacrifice for 2,500 or 3,000 dirhams.”

In this way, Khalil Al-Ikhwani, a livestock breeder in the Settat province, was involved in answering the questions of the Moroccan street regarding the prices and abundance of Eid sacrifices, as he said, “There is a supply of various types despite the repercussions of the drought.”

The same professional pointed out, in a statement to Hespress, that “the sacrifice considered today is the one whose price reaches 5,000 dirhams or more, while the sacrifices of 2,500 and 3,000 dirhams remain small in terms of size and mass,” concluding his statement by saying: “Brother, Hadshi Kamel, everything will be restored as long as it is still there.” There is charity.”
