In an energetic speech, the former minister and current president of the board of directors of TVN, Francisco Vidal, shared his reflections in the conversation “Course of the center-left”, held recently. Accompanied by prominent political figures such as Diego Vela of the Democratic Revolution (RD) and Paulina Vodanovic of the Socialist Party (PS), Vidal emphasized the importance of the government taking the communication initiative to counter the right.
Vidal began his intervention by clarifying his position as a member of the Party for Democracy (PPD), distinguishing it from his role as president of TVN. From this perspective, she addressed various topics, including the electoral challenges facing the center-left and the management of the government of President Gabriel Boric, who will celebrate two years in office on March 11.
The former Secretary of State did not spare criticism of government management, highlighting errors and deficiencies in administration and political communication. He lamented the failures in the appointment and replacement of regional and ministerial authorities, pointing out unacceptable delays that affect the effectiveness and image of the government.
Regarding the communication strategy, Vidal stressed the need for the government to take the initiative to promote its structural reforms and confront the right in the public sphere. He proposed using all available media, including national networks, to explain and defend his policies, highlighting how they would benefit the general population. His vision is to place the right in a defensive position, showing how its policies go against the interests of citizens.
In addition to addressing the communication strategy, Vidal also referred to the importance of unity within the center-left in the face of the electoral challenge. He warned about the threat posed by the right, especially in a scenario where the presidency could be won by figures like Evelyn Matthei. In this sense, he urged unity of action in the election of candidates, highlighting the need to put aside internal differences for the sake of a common objective: defeating the right.
