The abbreviation “FAST TV” comes from Free Ad-supported Streaming TV and indicates a linear television service. FAST TV programs are mainly supported by adverts inserted using DAI (Dynamic Ad Insertion) technology. They mainly offer repetitive and repetitive content.

– We want to extend the experience offered by linear channels and take advantage of the opportunity to discover even better content. We have created schedules with various profiles, thanks to which you don’t have to wonder what to watch on a specific topic at a given time – adds Gozdowski.

This was underlined by the head of streaming at TVN WBD the time a user spends searching for items to watch in VOD libraries is increasing. – According to a study on some websites, searching for a title to watch takes up to 30 minutes. On the other hand, binge-watching is popular, which applies not only to premium series, but also to soap operas and reality shows. Based on these experiences, we created 15 new generation TVN channels to make it easier for viewers to access content, says Maciej Gozdowski.

TVN’s “Next Generation Channels”: What’s next?

The stations offer content previously broadcast on TVN channels: fiction series, para-documentaries, reality show formats, entertainment programs and thematic magazines. The offer includes channels such as:

As you can see, individual channels usually broadcast multiple titles. This is a different approach than many websites in the West, where one channel often broadcasts one series or program.

– Our combined experience with TV and VOD shows that users don’t always want to watch one format, which is why we offer several with similar topics – says Gozdowski. – The DNA of these channels, just like our company, is constant evolution and change. This portfolio could soon be expanded to include channels with completely different topics. The new generation channels are an innovative project in which we will closely monitor our users and their reactions – he underlines.

FAST channels with advertising in the DAI model

– When organizing schedules, we use both automation, artificial intelligence and the work of the scheduling team. AI engines learn over time why they need data so much it is possible that in two years the channels will be created completely automatically – says Maciej Gozdowski.

From Thursday the channels are available for free only in Player – to view them simply register. They will not be available on VoD.pl because TVN Warner Bros. Discovery plans to discontinue this service. A free offer from VoD.pl has already appeared in the Player.

Stations will earn money by airing advertisements in the DAI model. This means that each user will see personalized commercials. TVN TVNWarner Bros. Discovery advertising with this technology introduced in fall 2022 – initially in terrestrial channels, received via a television connected to the Internet, and then transferred to the Player.

KRRiT has signed up new channels

The broadcaster has registered the stations with the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) as distributed channels in ICT networks. – As often happens, the law does not keep up with innovation, and Polish legislation today is not quite ready for FAST channels, but we have overcome this challenge, which does not change the fact that legislative changes are needed in this sector – says Gozdowski.

FAST channels with a Warner Bros. Discovery offer can be found, among others, in the United States.

The introduction of the new channels by Player will be supported by a television and internet campaign whose activities will begin next week, for which a specific advertising spot has been created. There will also be direct activities aimed at current Player users.

The Pilot WP website also has a strong focus on FAST, where you can find the Kabaret TV channel with cabaret shows, Patronite Podróże with materials from YouTubers benefiting from the support of patronite.pl users, Pilot w dom with interior design content and Auto Pilot, showcasing automotive brands. FAST stations in Polish were also offered by the streaming service Rakuten TV. Top Movies Polska and Bjgtjme broadcast films of various genres, Grjngo focuses on westerns, and the Moconomy station broadcasts documentaries on the economy.

This was stated by the British analysis company Digital TV Research Global FAST channel revenues will reach $18 billion in 2028, tripling the $6 billion recorded in 2022. The United States is expected to earn $9.8 billion. revenues in FAST services in 2028, then Great Britain – $909 million, South Korea – $876 million and Germany – $663 million.
