Miscreants have attacked and vandalized the house of veteran freedom fighter Nuruzzaman Biswas, former Member of Parliament of Pabna-4 Constituency and District Awami League Vice President.
The incident took place at the former MP’s house in Akbar Mor area of Ishwardi town on Friday (March 8) around 9 o’clock. Miscreants vandalized a private car and motorcycle.
Eyewitness and former MP house guard. Rana said, I left the house and went to see the construction materials of the nearby wall. Suddenly, four men wearing masks came on two motorcycles and vandalized the private car and motorcycle parked in front of the house. A bottle of foreign liquor in their hands broke and ran away.
Md. An auto driver named Bakkar Hossain said, while I was taking the car, I saw some people wearing masks vandalizing the car with sticks. I got scared and ran away with the car.
General Secretary of Upazila Awami League Abul Kalam Azad Mintu said, I stayed at the former MP’s house as soon as I got the news about the incident. The incident of attack and vandalism at night in the house of a brave freedom fighter and former MP is certainly shameful. Strict legal action will be taken against those involved in the incident. If anyone from the Awami League party is involved in this incident, we will take strict action according to the party’s decision.
Upazila Jubo League President Shirhan Sharif Tamal said, “We have come here on the orders of the current MP Ghalibur Rahman Sharif regarding the attack on the former MP’s house. I call for investigation and legal action against the party or anyone else involved in such a shameful incident.
Ex-MP veteran freedom fighter Nuruzzaman Biswas said, I was talking while sitting at home. Suddenly hearing the sound of vandalism in front of the gate, I came out and saw that a private car that I used and a motorcycle of someone who came to the house had been vandalized and fled. I think it’s not just vandalism, if we go there, we could have been killed.
Biplab Kumar Goswami, Additional Superintendent of Police of Ishwardi Circle said, “We have deployed police for security at the former MP’s house immediately after the incident. Legal action will be taken after investigating the reason and who carried out this attack.
