The Office of the Prosecutor for Children and Families (Pronnif) opened an administrative file regarding the case of two minors who were intoxicated by consuming cookies and fried foods that contained THC (Tretahydrocannbinol, a psychoactive component of cannabis). Presumably it was an accident.

The authority explained that protective measures were taken towards minors, in order to ensure their rights.

Although the origin of said products is still being investigated by the State Attorney General’s Office, Pronnif announced that it was possibly an accident and not an intentional act that could lead to corruption of minors.

According to what was stated by the children’s mother, she did not know the content of the cookies and fried foods.

In part of her statement, as revealed, the mother would have arrived with a box with recyclable stationery items for school, however she never noticed that said products came inside.

Pronnif ruled out that the minors are candidates for social assistance, so they will remain at home under the care of their mother.

Regarding the health status of the two minors, Pronnif said that they are out of risk and do not present any affectation.

THE FACT

The events took place at a home located on International Street, in the Siglo de Torreón neighborhood, where Red Cross lifeguards went.

In the first instance, there were three minors who were treated, and upon seeing the grade in which they were, they decided to transfer them to the Red Cross, so that they could be treated by the medical staff. They were three boys, ages 2, 4 and 7. year old.

Minutes later the neighbors called again to request another ambulance, as two other infants had the same symptoms. Upon arrival, they were treated: a 3-year-old girl and a 9-year-old boy, who presented vomiting among other symptoms; They were discharged at the scene.
