There were some technical problems on Wednesday morning when the first Flemish tests started. The cabinet of Minister of Education Ben Weyts (N-VA) confirms this. The problems have now been resolved.

The central tests were created to put a stop to the declining quality of education. This year, students in the second year of secondary education and students in the fourth year will be subjected to the test, which mainly emphasizes mathematics and Dutch. By 2027, all Flemish students will have to take the central tests at four times.
The central tests, which are administered digitally, started on Wednesday. But that start-up did not go completely smoothly. For example, technical problems were reported and the system sometimes worked very slowly. Several schools have therefore decided to temporarily discontinue the tests.
Catch-up moment
“We know that there have indeed been technical problems, but the problem has now been resolved,” confirms Michaël Devoldere, spokesperson for Minister Weyts. In schools that waited until the problems were resolved, students were able to continue working without any problems. In schools where tests have been discontinued, there will be a catch-up time, Devoldere assures.
It is currently unclear how many schools have had problems. The Central Testing Support Center cannot respond to the news at this time.
