To investigate the viral clip, Vishvas News first did a reverse image search of the keyframes of the viral video. We found this video uploaded on the YouTube channel of ‘Anandabazar Patrika’ on 6 April 2021. It was written along with it, “Sujata Mandal Khan was attacked by goons with bamboo sticks”
We received many reports regarding this incident. The video was used in a Times of India news story dated April 6, 2021, with the caption, “TMC candidate Sujata Mondal allegedly attacked in West Bengal’s Arambag constituency. TMC said that the party will approach the Election Commission. Mandal claimed that ‘BJP workers targeted him’. On the other hand, BJP workers have blamed TMC for this. The security forces went there and evacuated the village.”
Let us tell you that Sujata Mandal had lost the Arambag seat to BJP’s Madhusudan Bagh in the 2021 assembly elections. She is now contesting the 2024 Lok Sabha elections from Vishnupur on a TMC ticket against her ex-husband Soumitra Khan, who is a BJP MP.
We contacted Dainik Jagran’s Bengal Bureau Chief JK Vajpayee in this matter and got information about the viral video. He told that the viral video is from 2021. No such incident has happened recently.
At the end of the investigation, the user who made the viral post was investigated. It was revealed that Facebook user Ramesh Toke has around 100 followers. The user is a resident of Maharashtra.
