Environmentalist launches book on the Wet Birds of Lobito in Switzerland

News from Angola – Angolan environmentalist Fernanda Renée, leader of OTCHIVA and appointed by the Ramsar convention as the World Messenger of Wetlands, “presented the book “Aves das Húmidas do Lobito” on Tuesday (7), in Switzerland.

This Work is the result of cataloging the birds that live in the Lobito Wetlands and aims to promote the importance of these ecosystems and inspire their protection and conservation, since only what is known is protected.

The Book was prefaced by the Secretary General of the Ramsar Convention, Musonda Mumba, an intergovernmental treaty that establishes frameworks for national actions between countries with the aim of promoting the conservation and rational use of wetlands in the world.

It should be noted that Fernanda Renée in 2022 was elected young champion of wetlands by the Ramsar Convention.

In 2023 she was appointed by the same convention as a global messenger for Wetlands, at the beginning of 2024 she was included in the inaugural list of the legion of women generating change in Wetlands and in 2020 she was chosen by UNEP as a Finalist for the Young Champion of the Earth Award.
