Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, answering the question of whether he trusts Ilham Aliyev in an interview given to the prestigious French TV channel France 24, stated that he does not trust Aliyev and thinks that Aliyev does not trust him either. According to Pashinyan, this is an understandable situation, but the whole problem is whether they will be able to build an environment of mutual trust step by step.
Nikol Pashinyan expresses his willingness to build peace, it is not new, not the first time, not the first occasion. However, the whole problem is what is the basis of implementation and effective strengthening of the approach that Nikol Pashinyan puts forward. The answers to the questions here are not encouraging to say the least. Moreover, Nikol Pashinyan himself testifies with his other statements that the picture is completely opposite and Ilham Aliyev, for example, has no intention to achieve mutual trust.
Moreover, he made a bet on “distrust”, which is evidenced by the demands that are constantly presented to Armenia, up to the amendment of the Constitution and laws. And this is despite the fact that the Constitution and laws of Armenia practically do not contain any ambitions or threats towards Azerbaijan.
The whole problem is that the president of Azerbaijan is trying to turn “distrust” into political capital and to dictate conditions to Armenia, the ultimate goal or main goal of which is not to achieve mutual trust, but to remove any question of trust in relation to Armenia altogether, when it will no longer be possible to trust Armenia. a matter of not trusting, because Armenia will not present any more or less viable political content.
