The Arab Press and Media Association in Current Affairs (ARAPRES) stressed “the necessity of a relationship of trust and benefit between the political system and the Arab press and media system,” stressing that “they are indispensable to each other, for the sake of development and defense of the elements of national security and for the existence of journalism and media.” “It enjoys freedom and carries out its national work away from personal interests and external agendas.”
The head of Arabs, Dr. Tariq bin Sheikhan Al-Shammari in a statement on the occasion of World Press Day: “In Arabs, unlike many journalistic entities that seek to clash with the political system, we fully believe that the relationship that must exist between the press and the media and the state system is a relationship of integration, interaction, and a relationship of benefit and interest. The press and media need protection from the state to carry out their basic work, which is to promote development, support national security, and convey the voice of society in a rational and professional manner, devoid of personal interests and external loyalties. On the other hand, the political system needs the press and media to convey its internal message within the scope of society, and to highlight its image and policy through its external message. to other societies and external public opinion.”
Al-Shammari stressed, “In light of the great development in the ease and spread of journalism and digital media platforms, which has enabled everyone to attribute themselves as a journalist and media person for the sake of personal and partisan interests, both parties must press and media entities and the political system must confront the people and entities that exploit the press and media for their own interests.” It works to worsen the relationship between them. The regime must also establish and support joint institutions that bring together members of the regime, journalists and media professionals to deepen and achieve their common interests and confront anyone who tries to undermine national security and harm the freedom and philosophy of journalistic and media work.”
