The Prosecutor’s Office had demanded a sentence of 9 years in prison for Alves and the private prosecution, carried out by the complainant, claimed 12.
Inés Guardiola, lawyer for former soccer player Dani Alves, assured that they will appeal the sentence and that she will defend his innocence “until the end.”
He did so in statements to the media upon leaving the Barcelona Court, in which he also explained that Alves “is whole” and that now the sentence must be studied, in his words.
Asked about the sentence, she said that “four and a half is much better than 9 and 12” and added that this afternoon she will go to see her client.

For its part, the victim’s defense has expressed satisfaction because the Barcelona Court has given credibility to the young woman’s version.
“It is a sentence that recognizes what we have always known, the truth and the suffering that has occurred with which we can be satisfied and happy for her and for everyone,” said David Sáenz, one of the defense lawyers, upon leaving. of the Barcelona Court after the reading of the sentence.
When asked if they were surprised by the sentence and if they consider the sentence to be low, he said that they will now have to evaluate the entire sentence and see “if the seriousness of the sentence can be compared with the seriousness of the facts.”
In relation to the mitigating circumstance of repairing the damage, Sáenz said that “it has obviously not been repaired,” but that this assessment corresponds to the court.
