In the heart of Chocó, schools face a crisis that demands urgent attention to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment. Within the framework of the ambitious 2024-2027 Development Plan, the Departmental Education Secretariat undertook an inspection from Acandí to the border with Panama, uncovering a worrying reality.

Mayors, education coordinators, teachers and the entire community have joined together in a united cry: a significant investment is needed to build and improve schools. The cost to build an educational center with ideal conditions fluctuates between 10 and 15 billion pesos, showing an alarming 70% of the infrastructure in critical condition.

Although FINDETER has prioritized 24 establishments in 15 municipalities of the department, the Ministry of Education, led by Yina Reales, launches an urgent call to the National Government to expand the Educational Infrastructure Fund by at least 600 billion pesos. This request seeks to close historical gaps of inequality in Chocó.
