A young woman who was raped by the upazila chairman on the lure of marriage in Dumuria of Khulna has given a statement in court.
Judge Ronak Jahan of Khulna Judicial Magistrate-2 took the statement of the young woman on Friday (March 8) night. After the statement, he was given to the custody of the family. However, it is not known what he said about the rape in the deposition.
Dumuria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Sukant Kumar Saha confirmed the matter.
The OC said the case was recorded on Thursday afternoon on the orders of the court. In view of the case, the young woman and her mother were brought to police custody from home. He gave a statement under section 22 of the Women and Child Abuse Act when sent to the court on Friday. However, as today is a closed day, I did not get the court’s order. Therefore, I cannot say anything about what he mentioned in the deposition, and what the court ordered in that context. The details will be known next Sunday.
He said, after taking the statement, the court gave the girl to her family.

Earlier on Wednesday (March 6) afternoon, the girl’s distant cousin filed a rape and kidnapping case against seven people including Dumuria Upazila Chairman Ejaz Ahmed at the Khulna Women and Child Torture Prevention Tribunal-1. Who admitted the young woman to the OCC of Khulna Medical College Hospital on January 27. The girl and her mother were allegedly kidnapped from there on the afternoon of January 28.
After that, Sonadanga Model Police Station of the city rescued the girl. But no case was filed. Then on March 6, his cousin filed a rape case against Dumuria Upazila Chairman Gazi Ejaz Ahmed in Khulna Women and Child Torture Tribunal-1. In this case, 15 people have been named accused.
The court directed the Dumuria police station to take over the case. RAB and police launched an operation to rescue the young woman on Thursday. Later the police rescued the girl and her mother and took them to the police station. After staying at the police station overnight on Thursday, they were sent to the court at 3 pm on Friday.
