The strong wave of BJP is sweeping across India, breaking the Congress. BJP vote expert Prashant Kumar has claimed that the party is losing ground by fighting against Hindus. He made this claim on Saturday (February 17). He further said that the truth of this information can be clearly understood by looking at the statistics of Congress heavyweight leaders leaving the party and joining the ocher camp in the last couple of years.

Kamal Nath is the latest proof of this statistic. Even though he has not yet joined the BJP, it is clear from his demeanor that he is ready to don the saffron robes. A section of the political circle claims that the former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh left the Congress for Hinduism.

The trend of leaving the Congress and going to the ocher camp has started with Alpesh Thakur, one of the Congress leaders and former Congress MLA in Gujarat. In 2019, he left the Haat camp and joined the BJP. Since then, the former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia gave a big blow to the Congress after the last nineteen Lok Sabha elections. He left the Congress and joined the BJP in January 2020 due to a row with Kamal Nath.

After that, Rahul Gandhi’s close friend and former Union Minister Jitin Prasad left the Congress and joined the BJP in 2021. Former Union Minister Ashwani Kumar left the party in February 2022. He was a senior minister in the first UPA government. Hardik Patel, one of the Congress leaders in Gujarat, left the Congress in May of the same year. Later he also joined BJP. Sunil Zakhar was one of the faces of Congress in Punjab. In 2022, he was expelled from the party for publicly criticizing the then Chief Minister of the province. After that, he switched parties and became the head of BJP in Punjab.

Another senior leader Ghulam Nabi Azad left the Congress in 2022. He angered Sonia and Rahul by publicly praising Prime Minister Modi. Currently he is the leader of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Progressive Azad Party. Uttar Pradesh Congress leader RPN Singh left the party in January 2023. He resigned due to being cornered in the assembly election campaign led by Priyanka Gandhi. Later joined BJP. Anil Antony, son of veteran Congress leader AK Antony, left the Haat camp in January last year and joined the BJP a month later.

Several big faces of Congress left the party in succession last year. Several senior leaders have left the Congress since the last Lok Sabha elections in 2019. One of them is Kapil Sibal. He left the Congress on May 16 and joined the Rajya Sabha as an independent with the support of the SP. On the day of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra on January 14, the Congress suffered a major setback. Former union minister Milind Deora left the party.

Not only that, statistics show that 9 former chief ministers of different states have left the Congress in the last ten years. Among them are Vijay Bahuguna of Uttarakhand, Ajit Yogi of Chhattisgarh, SM Krishna of Karnataka, Narayan Rane of Maharashtra and Giridhar Gamang of Odisha. But among them, Gamang recently rejoined the Congress.

However, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chauhan left the Congress and joined the BJP on February 13. Former Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma left Congress and joined Trinamool on November 25, 2021. 11 Congress MLAs also left the party with Mukul. Congress lost power in this northeastern state after Mukul defected.

Sonia Gandhi’s ‘Asthabhajan’ and former Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarendra Singh left the party before Ghulam Nabi. In September 2021, Amarendra was removed from the post of Chief Minister by the Punjab Congress leadership. In November of that year, he wrote a seven-page letter to Sonia and announced his departure from the party.

He formed his own party ‘Punjab Lok Congress’ before the Punjab assembly elections in February 2022. He merged his party with BJP in September of the same year. Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, former Union Minister and long-time veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath is rife with speculations about him possibly joining the BJP. In this way, the grand old party is disintegrating due to one defeat after another Congress leader leaving the party before the Lok Sabha.

A central BJP leader told the media that the two Congress wickets were particularly important to the BJP. One of them is former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chauhan.

If the Padme Kamal blossoms this time, it will become easier for the BJP to target the Congress in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Then it will become clear to the people how much the Congress broke down and the party could not retain their former Chief Ministers. This will undoubtedly give an extra mileage to BJP, the country’s largest political force ahead of the polls.
