SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico.- Cuban comedian Geonel Martín, known for his famous characters from the program “Sabadazo”, has officially become a US citizen.
The news was shared on social networks by his colleague, presenter Carlos Otero. “Congratulations to our dear Gustavito Sabadazo who is now an American Citizen! “Successes, my brother!” wrote the former host of the popular Cuban program on Facebook.
Geonel Martín Verales started in the humor genre with the group Pagola la Paga.
The actor achieved fame in 1994, when Julio Pulido, a television director, invited him to play his character Gustavito in “Sabadazo,” which was broadcast in Cuba in the 1990s.
There he shared the scene with the presenter Carlos Otero and other comedians who established themselves in that show such as Ángel García (Antolín el Pichón), Boncó Quiñongo, Osvaldo Doimeadiós and Ulises Toirac.
Geonel Martín has also created other characters that have captivated his audience. Among them, the young Maricusa or the secretary of the program “Swear to tell the truth?” stand out.
In 2022, after long years of traveling to the Island to visit his family, he managed to join them in the United States.
His wife and two children, who lived in Bahía Honda, Pinar del Río, arrived in Miami in November 2022.
