The director of the Chilean newspaper The centuryHugo Guzmán, highlighted the importance of the New Operation Truth forum, convened by Prensa Latina to discuss the most pressing communication problems.

Since Sunday, the event has brought together dozens of information professionals from thirty countries who advocate counterhegemonic communication models, on the 65th anniversary of the conference convened in 1959 by the historical leader of the Revolution, Fidel Castro, to disseminate the reality of the nascent process of transformations in Cuba.
In the letter addressed to this agency, Guzmán stated that the forum allows us to strengthen dialogue and enhance communications and the work of the press in this sensitive and transcendental period on the international and regional stage, to address phenomena such as disinformation, Fake news and information distortions.
We are sure that the day will be fruitful and will strengthen the ties between media that share transformative, progressive, left-wing editorial lines and fulfill a commendable communication task, says the text that congratulates Prensa Latina for generating this space to advance a permanent Operation Truth.
On the opening day of the meeting, the Media Coordinator of the Nicaraguan Council of Communication and Citizenship, Daniel Edmundo, assured that communication is of vital importance for the defense of people against media terrorism, lies, fake news and slander.
Through a video message at the meeting, which takes place at the Paseo del Prado hotel in the capital, the official sent greetings from the Nicaraguan president and vice president, Daniel Ortega, and Rosario Murillo, respectively.
The Minister of Information of Lebanon, Ziad Makary, also participated in the meeting, who spoke about the communication challenges of reporting with immediacy and objectivity about the war in Gaza.
For their part, the former Foreign Minister of Belize Godfrey Smith and the executive director of Sputnik, Dmitry Ushakov, referred to the current challenges of communication.
In addition, the Hispanic American Press Congress recognized Prensa Latina for the 65th anniversary of its creation and for breaking the communication hegemony of the West for decades.
At the meeting, the documentary New Operation Truth was premiered, produced by Prensa Latina Televisión, which addresses with historical rigor and excellent accuracy the context in which Cuba’s response to media manipulation took place.
