Ana Aguilo has worked for Decathlon since 2004 and, with more than 20 years of experience, is now taking on the position of Country Leader in Austria.
Vienna/Vösendorf (OTS) – Decathlon, one of the world’s leading manufacturers and retailers of sporting goods and clothing, announces a change at the top in Austria. The Spanish Ana Aguilo has been Decathlon Austria’s Country Leader since the beginning of March and is the successor to the previous Country Leader, Gábor Pósfai. Aguilo can look back on a career at Decathlon that has spanned over two decades and is looking forward to the new challenge in a new home: “I am very excited about this unique opportunity and am more than ready to strengthen Decathlon Austria as a brand and continue our mission of making sport accessible to everyone in Austria“, says Ana Aguilowho will be moving her entire family from Spain to Austria for her new job.
The new country leader has been working for Decathlon for 20 years

She is the ideal person to lead the company in Austria and will drive the company’s success with her commitment and passion“, says Gábor Pósfai, who will retire in the spring after six years at the helm of Decathlon Austria. “I managed to do what I set out to do, namely build Decathlon in Austria from scratch into the strong brand in sports retail that it is now. Even though external factors such as the coronavirus pandemic have not made expansion any easier, I am very satisfied with the development. I will always look back on this period with joy and pride, but now the time has come for me to return to Hungary with my family.”
Ana Aguilo proves that an impressive career can be had at Decathlon: She joined Decathlon in Spain in 2004 and has undergone remarkable development since then. The mother of two started out as a team leader before taking over the management of two stores as store leader. From 2012 she was responsible for team sports as Country Sport Leader, after which she worked as Regional Manager for Eastern Spain. Aguilo has held the position of e-commerce leader since 2020.
In June, Decathlon opened its sixth store in Austria
Aguilo is joining Decathlon Austria at an exciting time: from summer 2024 there will already be six branches of the French sporting goods manufacturer and retailer in Austria. The sixth Decathlon location opened in PlusCity in Pasching near Linz in June, less than a year after the fifth branch opened in Austria. The new Decathlon store offers a colorful range for more than 70 sports on around 3,000 square meters, divided over two floors, and also secures 30 jobs. Decathlon Austria can also look back on a successful year: 42 million euros were generated in 2023 – an increase of 25% compared to the previous year and the strongest growth among the DECATHLON countries in Europe. Eagle finally: “This increase proves that Austria is a sporty country that attaches great importance to a diverse range of high-quality products at a reasonable price. We are pleased that our mission to make the emotions of sport accessible to everyone is being so well received here.“
