The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies began the discussion of the reform of the Amparo Law, regarding suspension of the claimed act and unconstitutionality of general norms, proposed by Senator Ricardo Monreal, Morena.

The modification establishes that in the case of amparo trials that resolve the unconstitutionality of general normsIn no case will the suspensions issued establish general effects.

This reform has been described by the opposition as a strategy of the federal government to prevent the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) from stopping the construction of its flagship works for violating the Constitution or various laws.

In today’s ordinary session in the Chamber of Deputies, the reform of the Amnesty Law will also be discussed, which establishes that The President of the Republic can grant the benefit of amnesty directly, without being subject to the established procedureto people prosecuted, sentenced or against whom criminal action has been taken and who provide verifiable elements that are useful to know the truth of the facts in cases that are relevant to the Mexican State.
