The District Detective Police has arrested three people in connection with the robbery of Tk 60 lakh by shooting two agents of Mobile Financial Service Cash in Narsingdi. Meanwhile, 16 lakh taka stolen from them was recovered.
Superintendent of Police Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman gave this information in a press conference at his office on Tuesday (April 30).
The arrested are Bidhan Mia (30), son of deceased Oli Mia of Shalidha area of Narsingdi town, Hriday (24) son of deceased Liton Mia of Jitrampur (Chardigaldi) area of Madhavadi police station and Solaiman Mia (37) son of Mosharaf Mia of Palash upazila.
In the press conference, the Superintendent of Police said that agents Delwar Hossain Pathan (40) and Shaheen (25) were going to Raipura office with Tk 60 lakh on the morning of April 4 from the Narsingdi office of NAKAD. When they reached near bridge number 10 of Mahmud Nagar area of Amirganj Union of Raipura police station, unidentified persons shot and robbed them of Tk 60 lakh.
Delwar and Shaheen were shot and seriously injured. Later they were treated at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
After the case in this incident, DB police started investigation. In continuation of this, on Wednesday night, on the basis of secret information, an accused named Bidhan Mia, involved in the incident, was arrested along with Tk 14 lakh from Panchdona intersection of Madhavadi police station.
Earlier, on the night of April 10, two accused named Hridoy and Solaiman Mia were arrested from the College Gate area of Shibpur police station. At that time two lakhs of looted money was recovered from them.
Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman also said that the arrested have given a confessional statement under section 164 in the learned court. In this incident, three accused were arrested and a total of 16 lakh taka was recovered.
Additional Superintendent of Police Fazle-e-Khuda, Additional Superintendent of Police Shamsul Arefin, Officer-in-Charge of District Intelligence Police (OC) Khokon Chandra Sarkar were present at the press conference.
