Egger: A general 32-hour week would mean 220,000 additional vacancies
Vienna (OTS) – “If the SPÖ runs out of ideas for new taxes, it will throw out the old hat of the 32-hour week. Especially in the area of care and health, the fairy tale of increased productivity is a blatant lie. There is already an acute labor shortage in many industries and with a general reduction in working hours, in the future five employees will be required to work 32 hours, where today four employees work 40 hours. Babler risks the welfare state with his demand. Regardless of whether you are a nurse, doctor, kindergarten teacher or police officer, in none of these professions can performance be squeezed into fewer working hours. Praising more productive employees will not reduce the massive gap in employees, but will only increase supply gaps,” said WB General Secretary and Abg.z.No. Kurt Egger.
