Great Britain imposed sanctions on the management of the Russian penitentiary where the Russian opposition figure Alexei Navalny died on February 16. This is reported by the BBC.

Western leaders blame the Russian authorities, including President Vladimir Putin, for Navalny’s death.
“Let those responsible for the brutal treatment of Navalny not be misled. we will hold them accountable,” British Foreign Minister David Cameron said.
The British government has also called for Navalny’s body to be returned to his family and for a transparent investigation to be launched. The opposition figure’s mother was informed that her son’s body would be handed over to the family in two weeks. The reasons for Navalny’s death are not yet known.
Great Britain is the first to impose sanctions in connection with Navalny’s death.
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, for his part, stated that the UK and its partners are considering “all options to hold Russia and Putin accountable.”
Navalny’s wife also blamed Vladimir Putin for her husband’s death. The spokesman of the Russian President, Dmitry Peskov, described the accusations against Vladimir Putin as “absolutely groundless, impudent”.
