Although the weather was by no means at its best over the long Easter weekend, that didn’t stop many tourists from making a detour to the capital. This emerges from the balance sheet of the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO).

From Good Friday to Easter Monday, 2,068 visitors passed through the doors of the LCTO reception office on Place Guillaume II. The majority of visitors came from the immediate neighboring countries, especially Germany (683), followed by France (318), the Netherlands (110), Luxembourg (79) and Belgium (70). Some visitors even came from even more distant countries, such as the Iberian Peninsula (209) and Asia (160).

Sightseeing and guided tours attract visitors

People also benefited from the LCTO’s organized tours at the weekend. 182 people took part in one of the ten organized tours and were able to discover the most beautiful corners of the city in the company of a tourist guide. The Easter safari for families was a great success. 95 participants, and therefore almost 100% capacity, went in search of animals that had hidden in the “urban jungle”. Of course, the most famous Luxembourg clay bird, the Péckvillchen, couldn’t be missed.

Since their reopening in June last year, the Bockkasematten have become very popular again. The many visitors had the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful view of the old town, but also of the Kirchberg district. 2,498 people were counted there alone.

A special highlight were the Petruss casemates: during the 16 guided explorations this Easter weekend, in which 228 visitors took part, the corridors were enlivened with light and sound effects.

However, the event par excellence this weekend was the Éimaischen in the capital, which celebrated its 195th edition and attracted thousands of visitors to the capital.

The LCTO also draws a positive conclusion from the figures on the website and social media. No fewer than 53,269 page views from 15,946 visitors were counted.
