On Sunday, the biathlon World Cup in Vysočina ended, in which the biggest stars of this sport participated. During the nine racing days, 210,681 fans visited the event. The audience record (240 thousand) did not fall, but it was close. And money flew through the air!
It may not seem like it, but according to a survey by the STEM/MARK agency, the championship appealed to 40 percent of Czechs, women and men almost equally. The average viewership was 748 thousand viewers. Compared to the last World Cup, this is an increase of 200,000. The total hit was 2.5 million viewers. The signal from Czech Television was received by 30 countries.
“I want to thank the fans, they were incredible. For the fact that we really did not go well to the World Cup, what happened here at the weekend was hell,” acknowledged biathlon boss Jiří Hamza. The volume of bets exceeded 108 million crowns at the three largest bookmakers (Tipsport, Fortuna, Chance), which is roughly 20 million more than for last year’s championship.
