Belgian Red Cross-Flanders sells 405,000 plasters for the benefit of its local departments

The second plaster campaign by Belgian Red Cross-Flanders was a success. No fewer than 405,000 plasters, or 5,000 more than last year, were sold. This is good for a proceeds of more than 4 million euros, all of which goes to the local departments.

For the second year in a row, the local branches of Belgian Red Cross-Flanders sold plasters to give their operations a financial boost. The proceeds will go entirely to the 217 local branches of Belgian Red Cross-Flanders, which will use the money to, among other things, purchase teaching materials for free first aid training, material to be present at first aid stations at local events, the purchase of ambulances, providing patient transport and for their various socially committed activities.

During the first Plaster campaign, 400,000 units were sold, this year that figure was even 405,000. “That excellent first sale was already an indication that after sixty years of sticker sales, the plaster was here to stay, this year’s results confirm that the plaster is a bull’s eye,” says Belgian Red Cross-Flanders. Singer Camille was the campaign’s ambassador this year and her cheerful cartoon character was featured on the plaster packaging.

“We are very satisfied with the result of this second Plaster campaign,” says Philippe Vandekerckhove, managing director of Belgian Red Cross-Flanders. “The record proceeds are proof of the great support that our organization enjoys among the population. The Flemish have shown their heart. Proceeds will enable our local Red Cross chapters to continue or expand their important work.”

Belgian Red Cross-Flanders thanks everyone who has contributed over the past fourteen days. “First and foremost, these are all the Flemish people who bought the plaster and of course also our 13,000 volunteers who have gone out to sell the plasters over the past two weeks.”
