Bagas/Fikri Lose, South Korea Equalizes Position over Indonesia 1-1

CHENGDU – Indonesian men’s doubles pair, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, failed to double Indonesia’s lead over South Korea in the quarter-finals 2024 Thomas Cup . Competing at the Chengdu Hi Tech Zone Sports Center Gymnasium, Chengdu, China on Friday (3/5/2024) afternoon WIB, Bagas/Fikri lost 15-21 and 12-21 to Kang Min Hyuk/Seo Seung Jae.

At the start of the first game, Bagas/Fikri and Kang/Seo competed fiercely and made the score draw 4-4. However, Bagas/Fikri had difficulty keeping up with the game and had to trail their opponents 4-7.

Bagas/Fikri were able to get up and make the match tight, but were unable to turn things around and trailed Kang/Seo 10-11 in the first game interval. Even though Kang/Seo had time to add points after the interval, Bagas/Fikri managed to equalize the situation at 13-13.

Meanwhile, Bagas/Fikri are again 13-15 behind the South Korean men’s doubles pair who are currently ranked second in the BWF. Even though they were able to get additional points, Bagas/Fikri had to lose in the first game with a score of 15-21.

At the start of the second game the match was tight, but Bagas/Fikri were trailing 2-4. The neat game shown by Kang/Seo put Bagas/Fikri in a difficult condition, making it difficult for them to catch up.

Evidently, Bagas/Fikri were 4-11 behind their opponents in the second game interval. Meanwhile, after the interval, Bagas/Fikri were even further behind with a score of 4-14 from Kang/Seo.

Bagas/Fikri are slowly getting additional points, but are still 10-19 behind Kang/Seo. However, Bagas/Fikri failed to double Indonesia’s lead over South Korea after losing 12-21 to Kang/Seo.
