Lebanese doctors have discovered for the first time a contagious infection in food that affects the male genital organ.
Publika.az “Daily Mail” reports that the 38-year-old man suffered from bacteria living in rice.
The patient referred to urologists regarding redness, swelling and crusts in the genitals. Such cases were revealed after symptoms such as severe diarrhea and vomiting. During smearing “Bacillus cereus” bacteria has been detected. This bacteria lives in rice that has been stored too long at room temperature. Foodborne infection can cause nausea and stomach upset within 30 minutes of eating spoiled rice.
Doctors concluded that the infection occurred during diarrhea and vomiting that occurred immediately after sexual intercourse between the patient and his wife. Doctors have noted that sex can increase the risk of bacteria entering the skin due to changes in blood vessels.
The father-of-two recovered within a month with a topical antibiotic commonly used for eye infections.
