Alliance of relatives and carers demands action instead of PR placebos!

Vienna (OTS) By now, all political alarm bells should be ringing in view of the sad state of affairs offered by “Austria’s care and support system”. The multi-organ failure of this system is now a case for a political emergency room.

The current forecast from Gesundheit Österreich GmbH (GÖG) is just another, albeit very clear, warning signal. The numbers paint a clear picture. “Chatting away” and political Sunday speeches won’t help anyone anymore.

“The people who need help most must not be left behind! Only quick and consistent steps can prevent the care and support system from collapsing due to multi-organ failure,” explains Karin Hamminger, President of ÖBAP – Austrian Federal Interest Group for Personal Care Agencies.

However, the many warning calls from professional groups are apparently not enough to get politicians to act – and that has consequences.

Because the civilian population is increasingly coming to the point of kissing the hand and slowly but surely reaching its limits. What the state can no longer do, it has gradually and gradually “outsourced” to the private sector. Those who suffer are the families of people in need of care. Maybe it’s time to make the relatives and their concerns more heard – so that politicians finally wake up!

One of them is Dr. Sabine Rödler – she can tell you a thing or two about what it means to be a relative of a family member in need of care. “Care and support “at home instead of in the home” – yes, that sounds nice and desirable, but has anyone in the political decision-making community ever asked themselves what that actually means for the individual?” Rödler asks, are you a father all around? the watch needs care.

Your own father, your mother, your grandparents – you are all blessed with the privilege of being able to live out your twilight years at home, even if you are sick and in need of care – in your “home”, your life anchor. However, anyone who is supposed to make this possible faces unexpected problems that cost nerves, take up a lot of time, require the stamina of a marathon runner and often exceed one’s own strength.

Rödler continued: “Tens of thousands of people in Austria have to run the gauntlet in order to find solutions for their relatives in already stressful situations. Instead of quick and easy support, you are faced with an almost impenetrable jungle of bureaucracy, interface problems between authorities and aid organizations and the anxious question: How are we supposed to pay for all of this?”

As a member of politics, Rödler demands “a system that supports people, instead of one that we have to support!” A few headline plasters here and there, a PR calming pill every now and then – that doesn’t help!”

Simplify, make easier, affordable and worthwhile!

Relatives, carers, nursing staff and their organizations – this indispensable and valuable system in the service of humanity – deserves a quick, active “help” from political decision-makers, demands the Austrian Federal Interest Group for Personal Care Agencies.

We want to work together to give the problems a voice that is loud enough to be heard by politicians.
