Companies are invited to join
Vienna (OTS) – Manufacture, use, dispose of, burn: every year in Austria, more than a million used mattresses end up in the trash and are then thermally recycled. This will be round 150,000 tons of CO2 released and valuable raw materials destroyed (results report “Circular Mattresses”). In order to find a more sensible way to deal with old mattresses and pave the way to circular mattresses, the foam specialist NEVEON, the successful start-up MATR and Betten Eberharter initiated the founding of the Austrian Mattress Alliance and commissioned the Climate Lab to implement it.

The alliance will focus on developing a common understanding of circular designclear criteria for the digital product passport as well as the targeted development of a voluntary one Placing fee on the market (EPR – extended producer responsibility).
“Around 80% of the environmental impact of products is already determined in the design phase. It is therefore essential to start right there and bring long-lasting, reusable, repairable and recyclable products to the market.
