Yesterday, the campaign of presidential candidates was launched on the air of Public Television. Among the candidates, Zahid Oruj, Fazil Mustafa, Razi Nurullayev, Elshad Musayev, Fuad Aliyev, as well as the authorized representative of President Ilham Aliyev, Tahir Budagov, and the authorized representative of Gudrat Hasanguliyev, Elchin Mirzabayli, expressed their opinions in a round table format.
In the first debate of presidential candidates, E. Mirzabeyli said that in order to avoid national conflicts in the future, negotiations should be held with the official Yerevan and international partners in order for Armenians to live in Armenia and Azerbaijanis in Azerbaijan. Pointing out that Armenia carried out a policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide against Azerbaijanis at the state level in the last century, and forcibly deported our compatriots from the territory of Western Azerbaijan, the authorized representative emphasized that it is impossible to trust Armenians in the current conditions. He expressed the need to take a number of steps in this direction. He said that along with 16,000 IDPs from Khankendi, our compatriots deported from Western Azerbaijan should be resettled in the city of Khankendi, as well as in a number of settlements where Armenians have moved, until they return to their historical lands.
Publika.az informs that his views on this proposed proposal MP Sahib Aliyev, who shared with Medianews.az, said that Our compatriots who were deported from Western Azerbaijan were not resettled in Karabakh and surrounding regions by mistake.
According to the deputy, the reason for this was the leadership of Azerbaijan at that time by people far from national sentiments: “In my opinion, the loss of the environment is no less painful than the loss of land. Those who suffered ethnic cleansing in Western Azerbaijan faced not only the loss of land, but also the loss of the environment. If we talk only about Goycha district, it is a loss of environment where geniuses like Ashiq Alasgar grew up. At the same time, there are Iravan intellectual environment, Zangezur, Aghbaba, Darelaez environments. These are sources of value that play a very important role in shaping the potential of every nation. Therefore, when those people faced ethnic cleansing, the people who led Azerbaijan, but were far from national feelings, had to settle those people in Karabakh based on the principle of that environment. But unfortunately, this did not happen.”
Deputy S. Aliyev emphasized that those who were deported from Western Azerbaijan should return to their lands and homelands: “It should have happened during the settlement of Karabakh in order not to lose the atmosphere I mentioned a while ago. From this point of view, I have a positive attitude towards the compact settlement of our compatriots deported from Western Azerbaijan. But the point is that those who were deported from Western Azerbaijan should return to their lands and homelands. They should revive the environment I mentioned in our historical lands. This is the primary desire of those who are attached to those lands. As our Commander-in-Chief Muzaffar emphasized, we will definitely return to those lands. Azerbaijanis can live together with Hays and Armenians, that is, Turks who have become Hays. Currently, they live together in many countries, even in neighboring Georgia. I hope that society will get rid of the disease of ultra-nationalism they have been infected with and will understand the inevitability of this coexistence.”
