Vienna (OTS) Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, one of the most successful musicals of all time, will premiere at Vienna’s Raimund Theater in less than two weeks. Pre-sales for fall now open!

Another ticket record is on the horizon at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien: In just under two weeks, Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s global success THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA will celebrate its premiere at the Raimund Theater. And over 120,000 tickets have already been sold – there are only a few tickets left until the end of June. For this reason, the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, a Wien Holding company, is playing the piece for the first time in July and is already opening advance sales for all performances from the beginning of September 2024.

The original production of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA counts with a total of more than 160 million visitors in productions in 46 countries, 192 cities in 21 languages ​​and as a winner of over 70 of the most important theater awards (including 4 Olivier Awards, 7 Tony Awards, 7 Drama Desk Awards and 5 Outer Critic Circle Awards) among the most successful musicals of all time. It tells the well-known, exciting and mysterious story of the Phantom, who lives in the eerie catacombs of the Paris Opera, and his great love for the young singer Christine Daaé. The original Broadway production broke box office records last year at the end of its 35-year run, and the London production is in its 38th year.

International critics rave that Cameron Mackintosh’s new production is “bigger and better than ever before.” The production impresses with many spectacular special effects – including the legendary chandelier -, the popular story and the breathtakingly romantic music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with all world-famous songs such as “The Music of Darkness”, “Think of Me”, “The Phantom of the… Opera”, “That’s all I want from you” or “Masked Ball” – with a large ensemble, of course accompanied by the VBW Orchestra, also in a large cast. Based on the classic novel “Le Fantôme de L’Opéra” by Gaston Leroux, THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA tells the story of a masked figure who lurks in the catacombs of the Paris Opera House and exercises a reign of terror over all residents. The Phantom falls madly in love with the young soprano Christine and dedicates himself to the task of making her a star. It promotes their extraordinary talent, for which it is not afraid of any underhanded methods.

Directed by Laurence Connor, with choreography by Scott Ambler, set design by Paul Brown, Tony Award®-winning costume design by Maria Björnson, adaptation and complementary set design by David Harris, lighting design by Tony Award®- Award winner Paule Constable, the projection design by Zakk Hein and the sound design by Mick Potter. The music of THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA is by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the lyrics by Charles Hart (with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe), the book by Richard Stilgoe and Andrew Lloyd Webber, the orchestration by David Cullen and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
