The Ukrainian army announced on Wednesday that it had “destroyed” a Russian warship off the Crimean peninsula.
For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced today that its air defense systems destroyed nine drones launched by Ukraine over the Russian regions of Belgorod and Voronezh, as well as over the Black Sea.
She added that two drones were shot down over the Belgorod region and one over the Voronezh region. The two regions are located in southwestern Russia on the border with Ukraine. While six drones were destroyed over the Black Sea.
Vyacheslav Gladkov, governor of the Belgorod region, said on social media that a woman was taken to hospital after sustaining injuries as a result of the attack.
Since the start of the war in Ukraine in February 2022, Russian territory has often been subjected to strikes and attacks launched by drones and attributed to Ukraine.
Both Russia and Ukraine deny targeting civilians in strikes on their respective territories. Both sides say their air attacks, often far from the front line, are aimed at destroying vital energy, military and transportation infrastructure.
On another front, Vadim Velashkin, the governor of the Donetsk region, said on Wednesday that Russia launched several missile attacks on the town of Seledov in the Donetsk region in eastern Ukraine, which led to damage to a hospital, the destruction of dozens of residential apartments, and the injury of several people.
“There are reports that there are three people, including a child, under the rubble (from the hospital),” Velashkin said on the Telegram application, adding that 100 patients had been evacuated to hospitals in nearby towns.
He continued, saying that the attack, which occurred at one o’clock in the morning on Wednesday, damaged a wing in the hospital.
Velashkin added that the attack followed a raid on Seledov late yesterday, Tuesday, that destroyed 12 apartments in a five-story residential building and wounded at least four people, including two children.
