The twentieth Arab Conference of Traffic Chiefs concluded its work by issuing a number of important recommendations aimed at strengthening cooperation and coordination relations between traffic agencies in Arab countries.
The conference adopted a model Arab indicative plan in the field of dealing with electric bicycles, and a model Arab indicative plan in the field of traffic awareness through social media networks, and requested the General Secretariat to circulate them to member states to benefit from them.
The conference called on member states that do not have smart traffic systems to establish such systems, and to work on using modern technologies and intelligent transportation systems, because of their role in improving the level of traffic safety and the smooth flow of traffic on roads, and to adopt GPS systems in determining places. Repeating traffic accidents, studying the causes of their recurrence, and developing effective ways to address them.
The conference asked Naif Arab University for Security Sciences to increase workshops and training courses related to traffic safety in its annual work program, so that Arab countries would be able to benefit from the university’s capabilities in this field, and to present a vision for the next conference on establishing an Arab traffic analytical database, so that member states would benefit from the data. available to make appropriate decisions.
He also asked the General Secretariat to hold the Arab Conference for Heads of Traffic Services once a year, and to choose a short-term strategic goal in light of the views of the member states, to be achieved between every two of the regular conferences for heads of traffic services.
The recommendations were referred to the General Secretariat in preparation for submitting them to the next session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, for consideration of adoption.
The conference was held within the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers in Tunisia, in the presence of representatives of the ministries of interior in Arab countries, as well as the Naif Arab University for Security Sciences and the General Secretariat of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers.
