After winning the Best Actress Award at the Gulf Film Festival recently, the film “My Word” by director Mahmoud Al-Sheikh was screened among the films of the Saudi Film Festival with a large audience.
The film tells the story of a woman facing difficult circumstances with her family members, called “Maryam,” who spent 40 years of her life raising her children and taking care of the family. After the death of her husband, “Sheikh Jaafar,” her ex-lover proposes to her and she decides to agree.
The film stars Jumaan Al-Ruwaiei, the great artist Maryam Zeman, Yahya Abdel Rasoul, Dana Al Salem, Aqeel Al Majed, Hussein Abdel Ali and others.

Mahmoud Yahya Al-Sheikh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication (Multimedia) from the University of Bahrain and works as a director at the Information Affairs Authority (Bahrain TV) and the executive director of Frame Box Artistic Production Company. He directed many works, including the series Dafi Al-Sha’ar in 2022, and the short film The End..? No, in 2008, which participated in several festivals, including the Second Gulf Film Festival in Dubai and the First Zayed University Film Festival, where it was chosen to be one of the best 6 short films in the Middle East. The short film “Just a Game” in 2009, which participated in the third Gulf Film Festival in Dubai, and the short film “Rainbow” in 2014, which received a special mention from the jury from the Abu Dhabi Film Festival in the Emirates, and a special jury award from the Meknes International Film Festival in Morocco.
