Former Liverpool player Jose Enrique revealed that Egyptian star Mohamed Salah tried to leave the club last summer, indicating his confidence that the current season will be the scorer’s last with the red team.
Last summer, Mohamed Salah received an offer to move to the Saudi Roshan League, but he remained with Liverpool in the end, while there are 12 months remaining until the end of his current contract with the club.
Enrique told Grosvenor Sport, in statements reported by the famous 442 magazine: I think Salah will leave Liverpool next season, because I am completely confident that he was trying to leave the club last summer.
He continued: It is not possible to make an offer to a player without a prior agreement. I think Salah wanted to move to Saudi Arabia last summer.
He concluded: I believe that this season will be Salah’s last with Liverpool, and this is the appropriate time to write the end of the story. Coach Jurgen Klopp will leave and the club needs to renew its blood, and it is better for Salah to say goodbye to Liverpool while he is at the top of his level.
Salah became the fifth top scorer for the prestigious English club throughout history, with 209 goals, and is 18 goals away from Billy Liddell, who is in fourth place.
